The recent invasion in Ukraine has caught the attention of the world, including Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, who has vocally shared his stance with the Ukrainian people. Russia invaded Ukraine early in the morning of February 24th, and since then, there have been reports of explosions and gunfire.

Artists have been reaching out on social media to express their support of Ukraine, one of those artists being Dee Snider. Regarding Russia’s invasion, Snider took to Twitter and vocalized his support of Ukraine, sharing that he absolutely approves of the Ukrainian people using the Twisted Sister song “We’re Not Gonna Take It” as a “battlecry.” While the song has become a popular rock ‘n’ roll track on its own, it has also been used as a political song in the past.

Dee Snider has been a politically vocal artist and not shy to share his stance before. On his Twitter account as of today, Snider wrote a few tweets expressing his anger over what is taking place, sharing some strong words.

Regarding the use of “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” Dee Snider wrote the following.

I absolutely approve of Ukrainians using ‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’ as their battlecry. My grandfather was Ukrainian, before it was swallowed up by the USSR after WW2. This can’t happen to these people again! #FUCKRUSSIA

When a Twitter user said that Russia wasn’t to blame, but Russian president Vladimir Putin, Snider replied with the following tweet:

Understood (though they are claiming 60% of Russians support this invasion). But the Russian people (many who are already protesting) need to take responsibility for the piece of shit they have allowed to stay in powre for 22 years. #FUCKPUTIN”.
