It looks like fans may not have to wait much longer for the new Avenged Sevenfold record! Over the past few months, the band have been rolling out details on the record’s progress; the last we heard from them, guitarist Synyster Gates backed up vocalist M. Shadows’ comment about Kanye West being a big influence for the record. In a new update though, Avenged Sevenfold have said that the album is now “90 percent done.”
Back in December of 2020, as reported by Kerrang!, Shadows said the band were “trying to get string sections together.” Well, as of yesterday, Shadows tweeted out shots of him and Gates watching a 78-piece orchestra recording in a studio, the caption to the tweet being, “Twas worth the wait.”
Band drummer Brooks Wackerman also shared news of the orchestral work, sharing a photo on Instagram that includes the following caption:
“Well… this Happened on Tuesday. We-Avenged Sevenfold- started writing this record 4 years ago and I can’t believe we are 90% done…One of the perks-in the creative process- is that we are able to track a 78 piece orchestra on our records. The fact that we are able to bring incredible musicians together to enhance our art still gives me chills.. I can’t wait for the the world to hear this.. all I can say it’s unlike Anything we’ve ever released.. ALRIGHT and good night!”

The last studio album to come from Avenged Sevenfold is that of 2016’s The Stage. In the years since, the metal world has been eagerly anticipating what the band cook up next. If the guys are saying the record is really 90 percent done, that is terrific news for all of us! There is a decent possibility we’ll see the record by this upcoming summer, especially since Shadows did say the band were booking tours for summer, and that the record would be out by then. At the time of this writing, the band have shared one small clip of new music.
