Trivium’s Matt Heafy Releases New Solo Track Featuring Testament’s Chuck Billy

It’s no secret that we’re big supporters of Trivium — their new album In The Court of the Dragon landed at #7 on our list of the best albums of 2021 — and we’re obviously huge Testament fans, with an especially soft spot for frontman Chuck Billy. Now, the former’s frontman, Matthew K. Heafy, has released a new solo track featuring a guest performance by Billy, and it’s pretty fucking solid.

The track, “Behold Our Power,” is promoted as the anthem of the Mystic Festival, a metal fest which takes place at the Gdansk Shipyards in Gdansk, Poland (also called Danzig, Poland — WHOOOOOA). While we’re a little confused as to why Heafy and Billy have written a theme to this festival, given that neither of the musicians appear to be on the line-up for this year’s Mystic Festival, we can excuse this given the power of the track. The song shows both artists pulling off Trivium’s unique merging of gut-punching metalcore and epic chivalry, and makes for an excellent fist-in-the-air song no matter what it’s for. This festival must be pretty stoked to have an official anthem as awesome as this one.

This year’s Mystic Festival goes down Thursday, June 2nd, to Saturday, June 4th, with tickets available for purchase. Check out the full line-up below:
