Metallica Were Streamed 1.3 Billion Times on Spotify In 2021

It’d be hard to argue that Metallica are not the biggest metal band of all time. When the City of San Francisco honors you with your own holiday and Elton John talks about how you’ve written one of the best rock and roll songs of all time, you have to be doing something right. But at the end of the day, the proof is in the pudding, and if Metallica’s countless accomplishments aren’t enough to impress fans, maybe the scoreboard will: according to the band’s Spotify Wrapped round-up, their music was streamed over a billion times.

As reported by Loudwire, the band revealed their 2021 Spotify Wrapped late in 2021, showing eternal gratitude to their fans as they revealed the staggering number of times they were streamed — 1.3 billion.

“With all the ups and downs of 2021, one thing remained consistent – you listened to a lot of Metallica on Spotify!” wrote the band. “Just when we thought you couldn’t possibly listen to any more, you went and proved us wrong. Clocking in at 112.2, hours of streaming, we were the top artist for [one million] of you! Honestly, we don’t even know what to say. But a massive THANK YOU, ‘TALLICA FAMILY feels pretty appropriate right about now. Happy New Year to you all; we’ll see ya in 2022.”

Congrats to Metallica on this massive accomplishment. A billion is no joke.
