Last we heard from Swedish satanic hitmakers Ghost was earlier this week, when it was revealed that they’d be performing on ‘Kimmel’ tonight. Now, the band have pre-empted this performance by officially announcing their upcoming album, as well as dropping a new single from it.
Ghost’s fifth studio album will be called Impera, and will release March 11th via Loma Vista/Concord. The cover hints at both a more mechanized Industrial Revolution-era vibe and a classic Satanism vibe, as evidenced by the Aleister Crowley fists-on-either-side-of-the-face pose. Check it out below.
The record’s new single, “Call Me Little Sunshine” (called the ‘new’ single instead of the ‘first’ single because the album also contains “Hunter’s Moon,” the song the band released for the Halloween Kills soundtrack), is a mid-paced stomper with the band’s trademark mixture of relatable romance and occult satanism. The video features a woman on a dingy train being approached by the Devil — or summoning him, maybe? — who takes the form of a classic red-skinned imp. It’s a lot of fun.
