Dying Fetus Are Recording Their First New Music In 5 Years

Published on:

In the realm of modern death metal, Maryland’s Dying Fetus hold a special place of distinction. While other bands have inspired the genre’s speed, ferocity, and obsession with gore, Dying Fetus brought about the kinetic slam scene, which in turn gave birth to the deathcore scene in the late 2000s, and was a huge influence on death metal’s current cavernous, hardcore-leaning boom. So it’s awesome to hear that Dying Fetus are back in the studio, recording their first new material since 2017.

Yesterday, the band posted the following studio picture to their Twitter, which features frontman Jon Gallagher (in a rare appearance with a head of hair) laying down guitars for a follow-up to 2017’s massive Wrong One to Fuck With. The tweet promises a new album this year, too, though given how much the Omicron variant is beginning to set back many musicians’ plans, we’ll have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, if you’re one of our European readers and can’t be bothered to wait for new Dying Fetus, you can catch the band live at one of their upcoming tour dates with As I Lay Dying and Emmure:
