On the list of explicitly non-metal acts that metalheads will tolerate, Tenacious D might be at #1. The zaftig comedy duo will forever be loved by headbangers for their focus on rocking, never stopping, Satan, and Dio. So plenty of our readers will be delighted and aroused to learn that Tenacious D are heading out on tour this summer.
Before we start: bad news for our friends on the East Coast and in the Midwest. The closest this tour will get to you is Colorado, with the West Coast soaking up the majority of the dates. That said, tours beget tours, so we urge our fans to the left of the map to come out in spades and inspire Tenacious D to make a bigger deal of it with the swelling of their bank accounts. Pressure with your dollar, laugh-hungry headbangers!

The last we heard from The D was when they released two covers of songs from the Beatles’ 1969 album Abbey Road, which is kind of metal in its own right because it contains a song about a medical student beating women to death with a silver hammer. The convex twosome go from a somber-yet-twinkly performance of “You Never Give Me Your Money” to a colorful green-screen orgy of “The End.” The whole video showcases just how energetic and hilarious the D can make even the most sacred of classic rock tracks.
