Back in May, it was announced that hard rockers Halestorm and goth metal hit-makers Evanescence would be joining forces for a co-headlining tour. Well, Friday night saw that trek kick off in Portland, Oregon, and gave fans of both bands a special treat when Halestorm mastermind Lzzy Hale joined Evanescence onstage for a cover of Linkin Park‘s “Heavy.”

For those of you who don’t know the track, “Heavy” comes from 2017’s One More Light, and was recorded as a duet with singer Kiiara. The song isn’t what most people would think of when they imagine a Linkin Park track, with Chester offering a vulnerable take on his own trials and tribulations that never opens up into the band’s traditional angst. This makes it a perfect track for Lzzy Hale and Amy Lee, who can give the song their most soulful and honest vocal performances without having to try and match any level of typical metal bravado. In that respect, the cover is exceptional, offering conertgoers a moment of pure emotion between absolute ragers.

Watch Lzzy and Evanescence give Chester Bennington his due on their version of “Heavy” below:
