Video: Clutch Debut New Track Live

Published on:

Last we heard from Maryland boogie-metallers Clutch was the announcement of their 30th anniversary headlining tour dates. With that trek underway, it now appears that the band are ready to show off some of their new stuff to fans, as they’ve debuted a new song live.

As reported by The PRP, Clutch performed their new track titled “We Strive For Excellence” for the first time at the Alaska State Fair in Palmer, AK. The show not only marked the first time the band played this new song, it was also their first live performance in 21 months.

As you’ll hear below, “We Strive For Excellence” is definitely in keeping with the material the band have recently released on albums like 2015’s Psychic Warfare and 2018’s Book of Bad Decisions. There’s a solid boogie groove running down the middle of the song, but it’s still always driven by a biker-ish garage-rock momentum that’s a little more hardcore than that of their more danceable tracks like “Subtle Hustle” and “In Walks Barbarella.” It promises good things to come for Clutch fans, and by ‘good things to come,’ we mean ‘staying the course,’ which is all we really want from this band.

Check out some clips of “We Strive For Excellence” below:
