Man, Colson “Machine Gun Kelly” Baker is probably wishing he’d been the bigger man right about now. Last week, the rapper-turned-pop-punker took a moment during his Riot Fest set to try and diss Slipknot for being “50 years old, wearing a weird mask onstage” (to his credit, Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor ripped on him in an interview, so he considered it due payback). This prompted Corey Taylor to post e-mails proving he turned down a chance to be on MGK’s pop-punk album Tickets to my Downfallwhich in turn inspired Baker to tweet that Taylor’s verse was terrible. Now, not only was Baker publicly booed and flipped off during his Louder Than Life set, now Trivium frontman Matt Heafy is having a fun time dissing him on social media.

Heafy took to his Twitter to say, “I’d like to formally diss Machine Gun Kelly for ‘being 31 years old wearing a fucking 16 year old pop punk cosplay identity on a fucking stage.'” He then went on to call poor Colson “Squirt Gun Smelly.”

When a fan brought up his own feelings, Heafy responded by saying, “I never thought about him till he took a shot at Slipknot – who are a band who’s paved the way for bands like mine. Thousands of bands like mine. Squirt Gun is a clout chaser. And even though it’s all a PR stunt, a shot at SK needs an addressing. (But that cover sounds awful).”

So just remember, friends: if you want to call out a legendary artist for taking a shot at you in an interview, do so with some quiet dignity and respect. Maybe post something on social media saying it’s frustrating or whatever. Getting on stage in front of thousands while that artist is playing two stages over to insult them publicly? Not a great look.
