One finds metal fans everywhere, from the shores of Jamaica to the streets of Brazil. But Flavortown? Your average fan might not go looking for it, but metal is very much alive there, as made apparent in a recent interview in which celebrity chef and Dexter Holland look-alike Guy Fieri discusses his love of metal.
As reported by Loudwire, Fieri recently appeared on ‘After School Radio,’ the new Apple Music show hosted by blink-182’s Mark Hoppus. Discussing his musical tastes, the renowned cheese-gruffler expressed his love for several famous metal bands.
“I’m a Metallica junkie,” says Fieri, adding, “Pantera, [Rage Against the] Machine, AC/DC. I mean, you name it. … There was just something about living in Los Angeles and living down in Long Beach back in the day. And Rage coming out and just getting all of that energy…And I’m friends with Brad — Brad Wilk, [Rage Against The Machine’s] drummer.”
Apparently, Guy’s wife “won’t let me play it at house parties. I don’t get to necessarily always jam my Rage. But … the awesome thing is both of my sons are huge fans. So whenever mom’s not [around], we get to play Rage.”
There you have it, folks — Guy Fieri and you might not be as different as you think. Meanwhile, here’s a video of him eating to Johnny Cash’s cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt:”
