Back in March, rumors began circulating that shock rocker Rob Zombie was finally directing his dream project: a reboot of ’60s horror-comedy show The Munsters. In June, Zombie posted to his social media accounts confirming that The Munsters would be his next film project. Since then, the shock rocker has teased bits and pieces from the movie — early set designs, costumes for Herman and Lily Munster, and wig progress for Grandpa Munster. Now, Zombie has posted photographic evidence of his vision of the Munsters’ house coming to life in the form of an early construction shot.
As you’ll see below, Zombie’s latest teaser shows the frame of the Munsters’ house being slowly constructed (granted, this’ll probably just be the exterior — one assumes a lot of the interior shots within 1313 Mockingbird Lane will be done in different locations around Budapest). But it’s pretty fucking rad to see that this new concept for the Munsters is being physically made. For so long, Zombie’s version of the beloved horror-comedy show has been just a rumor; now it appears that it’ll actually see the light of day.
“BIG NEWS!” wrote Zombie in the caption of the post. “Direct from the set of THE MUNSTERS! Construction on the Munsters house has officially begun ! Stay posted for more updates as this icon structure returns to life!”

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little longer until they get to see Zombie’s new Munsters in action. Due to the number of people asking to see a trailer for the film, Rob’s wife and muse Sheri Moon Zombie, who is believed to play Lily in the film, posted the following update: “Seeing folks ask when a trailer is coming out…The film is in pre-production, currently being location scouted so nothing to show for a while yet.”
