It sometimes seems like a rule that if you’re a professional metal musician, you will get hurt doing the things you love other than playing metal (and maybe that, too). Whether it’s skateboarding, Formula 1 racing, or windsurfing, metal musicians’ non-musical hobbies almost always find a way to bite them in the ass. Case in point, Italian death metallers Fleshgod Apocalypse have revealed that they’ll have to cancel an upcoming show after guitarist and vocalist Francesco Paoli got seriously hurt while rock-climbing.
In a statement, the band wrote, “Last Saturday, August 21st, our singer Francesco Paoli suffered severe injuries while rock climbing the Gran Sasso mountains in Abruzzo, Italy. Despite suffering several fractures, Francesco is currently stable at a local hospital while receiving treatment for his injuries.
“In light of this, Fleshgod Apocalypse is forced to cancel their Cremona, Italy show at ‘Road to Luppolo’ scheduled this Sunday the 29th. More details will be shared as soon as we have more info available.”
Everyone at The Pit wishes Francesco a swift, complete recovery.
