Slipknot Release Official Statement and Tribute Video for Joey Jordison

This week, the rock and metal worlds were shocked and crushed to learn that  learn that Joey Jordison, founding drummer of Slipknot and player in bands including Murderdolls and Sinsaenum, had died at the age of 46. Now, Slipknot have released a video tribute to the drummer, along with an official statement.

“Our hearts go out to Joey’s family and loved ones at this time of tremendous loss. Joey Jordison’s art, talent, and spirit could not be contained or be held back,” write Slipknot. “Joey’s impact on Slipknot, on our lives, and on the music that he loved, is incalculable. Without him there would be no us. We mourn his loss with the entire Slipknot family. We love you, Joey.”

No cause of death has been revealed thus far in Jordison’s case.

On Wednesday evening, Jordison’s family confirmed the news, saying in a statement, “Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow. To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music.”

“The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time. The family will hold a private funeral service and asks the media and public to respect their wishes.”

Jordison was one of the more recognizable and outspoken members of Slipknot. He played on the band’s 1999 debut, 2001’s Iowa, 2004’s Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses, and 2008’s All Hope Is Gone. Many will also remember him as the guitarist for horror-metallers Murderdolls, as well as a member of bands Vimic and Sinsaenum.
