Rob Zombie Shares Sneak Peek at Grandpa Munster Design

Wow, Rob Zombie is either really excited for the world to see his take on The Munsters or very aware of how much hype and speculation there is surrounding it (or both!). The shock rocker has shared both his blueprints from the Munster family home at 1313 Mockingbird Lane and the earliest costume designs for Lily and Herman’s sleepwear. Now, Rob has posted a sneak peek at one of the show’s most beloved characters: Count Dracula himself, Grandpa Munster!

Zombie posted an image to his Instagram of a wig in its early stages, writing, “The wig work has begun! Can anyone guess which character this is? Obviously you can.”

For those who have never seen it, The Munsters tells the story of a family made up of Frankenstein’s monster (Herman), Dracula’s daughter (Lily), their werewolf son (Eddie, and maybe Rob will clear up the genetics here), Dracula himself (Grandpa), and their bubbly human niece (Marilyn). The Munsters are all good-natured night creatures who mostly want to help out their community and make vermin-based food, but everyone around them is fucking terrified of them, and thus hijinks ensue. The cartoonish nature of the show might feel silly to some, but in the hands of Rob Zombie — whose big hit “Dragula” is a direct reference to The Munsters — it’ll no doubt be a ton of fun.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a little longer until they get to see Zombie’s new Munsters in action. Due to the number of people asking to see a trailer for the film, Rob’s wife and muse Sheri Moon Zombie, who is believed to play Lily in the film, posted the following update: “Seeing folks ask when a trailer is coming out…The film is in pre-production, currently being location scouted so nothing to show for a while yet.”
