Terrible news today, as Joey Jordison, founding drummer of Slipknot, has died. He was 46 years old.
No cause of death has been revealed at this time.
Jordison’s family confirmed the news today, saying in a statement, “Joey’s death has left us with empty hearts and feelings of indescribable sorrow. To those that knew Joey, understood his quick wit, his gentle personality, giant heart and his love for all things family and music.”
“The family of Joey have asked that friends, fans and media understandably respect our need for privacy and peace at this incredibly difficult time. The family will hold a private funeral service and asks the media and public to respect their wishes.”
Jordison was one of the more recognizable and outspoken members of Slipknot. He played on the band’s 1999 debut, 2001’s Iowa, 2004’s Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses, and 2008’s All Hope Is Gone. Many will also remember him as the guitarist for horror-metallers Murderdolls, as well as a member of bands Vimic and Sinsaenum.
Everyone at The Pit sends their heart out to Joey’s friends, family, fans and collaborators. More on this story as we know it.
