Ah, graduation season, a time when teenagers on the brink of adulthood can cut loose for one final summer before beginning four years of unbridled heartache, academic self-doubt, and Molly addiction. For many, graduating high school is a momentous occasion and a chance to show Nana and Peepa that you’re not a complete waste of organs. Or, alternately it’s a chance to tell everyone what a massive Slipknot fan you are, which one high schooler did by receiving his diploma to the Iowan band’s classic track “People = Shit.”
As you’ll see in the video below, one Redditor made a point of receiving his high school diploma to the opening track of 2001’s Iowa. The crowd seems a little bewildered, but mostly amused. More than anything, though, this video will let metal fans know how good these damn kids today have it. This writer 100% did not have the option of choosing a soundtrack for receiving his diploma; if anything, it was made clear to him that he was lucky to be graduating at all, and if he in any way sullied this occasion with his metalheaddom, the coaches might take him out back and kick him to death.
Anyway, check out the pomp and circumstance below:
