Slipknot’s Clown Releases Two New Solo Tracks

Published on:

It’s been a busy year for Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan. Only recently, the demonic harlequin discussed the band’s upcoming new album, revealing that Slipknot would be leaving longtime label Roadrunner Records after its release.  Now, Clown has dropped two new solo tracks, which you can hear below.

Anyone who’s familiar with Clown’s work outside of Slipknot will be unsurprised to hear that these songs sound, well, nothing like Slipknot. The first, “Brainwash Love – Death Inside” is a twinkly sort of chiptune track, like the backing music to some very conceptual ’90s scrolling SNES game. The second, “Live Your Life,” is more of a subliminal soundscape, that perhaps could be a Slipknot interlude track due to its rhythmic and creepy use of samples throughout. Both songs offer an interesting peek inside the mind of one of metal’s weirdest creative forces.

Here’s “Brainwash Love – Death Inside:”

And here’s “Live Your Life:”
