It’s turning out to be a big year for German industrial metal legends Rammstein. Not only have the band recently announced massive stadium tours across 2022, but they’ve also revealed that they wrote a follow-up to 2019’s untitled album while in quarantine. Now, though, it appears as if the band are focused on giving back, as they’ve now announced that they’ll be auctioning off several of their gold and platinum albums for charity.
As reported by Kerrang!, Rammstein will be auctioning off several of the sales awards they’ve gotten over the years in the U.S., Canada, and Iceland, including those they’ve received for 1997’s groundbreaking Sehnsucht. The money from these auctions will go to causes including The Albert Schweitzer Foundation, which provides new homes for children who can’t live in their current homes; #AlarmstufeRot, which seeks to aid the German performance art industry in the wake of COVID-19; the Amazon Conservation Team, which seeks to protect the Amazon rainforest; and the Berliner Stadtmission, which helps deal with societal changes in Berlin including the COVID pandemic.
“Rammstein is auctioning carefully selected gold and platinum awards for a good cause,” write the band on their new charity website (via Google Translate). “Sorted by albums, trophies will be released for auction to fans again and again in the coming months. Different organizations are considered for the distribution of donations for each album auction.”
Fans who want to own a piece of Rammstein history should give if they can.
