Here’s How It Would Look If Mudvayne Performed “Dig” at The Oscars

Published on:

This year’s Academy Awards was full of ups and downs, triumphs and disappointments, lifetime achievements and questionable wins. But what everyone can agree it lacked was the harsh, all-elbows nu-core sounds of Mudvayne, everyone’s favorite recently-reunited facepaint artists. Thankfully, one YouTuber has decided that enough is enough, and has created a video showing what it would look like if Mudvayne performed their classic “Dig” at the Academy Awards.

From the outset, the hilarity of this video is watching Meryl Streep and Bradley Cooper smiling reverently as Mudvayne scream, “WELCOME! TO OUR! FUCKED-UP! WOOOORLD!” But the more one watches, the more the true meaning of this video emerges: this Oscar footage exists. There was a performance onstage at the Oscars for which Christian Bale and Jennifer Lopez looked this awkward, mouthing along lyrics and nodding in approval like the out-of-touch cultural figures they are. It would have almost been better if Mudvayne HAD been the band playing, because at least then these celebrities would’ve looked slightly overwhelmed or nonplussed; as it is, their sense of uncomfortable approval is balls-out cringe.

“These symptoms suggested that our evolution, I suppose, from the animal kingdom into human kingdom itself was catalyzed or triggered by our encounter with these hallucinogenics, and… Yes, we are an ape with a symbiotic relationship to a mushroom, and that has given us self reflection, language, religion, and all the spectrum of effects that flow from these things And one can only wonder how these hallucinogens might effect our future evolution as well They have brought us to this point and as we make our relationship to them conscious, we may be able to take control of our future evolutionary path
