Gojira Release Intense New Single “Into The Storm”

So far, Gojira have released three songs from their upcoming new album Fortitude, each one more crushing than the last. Now, the band has dropped another new single, “Into the Storm,” which takes a slightly speedier approach, with great results.

This isn’t to say that “Into the Storm” is a straightforward thrash track, though its opening certainly seems to channel the tempos and riffage of acts like Oozing Wound and Power Trip. More importantly, there’s a momentum behind the song that makes it feel urgent and unstoppable, so that even as its more pendulous moments, it comes off as fast and charging straight ahead. The result is a new level of texture applied to one of metal’s most reliable bands.

“Acting accordingly with our deepest wisdom and standing for what is precious and good in this world,” says frontman Joe Duplantier of the song’s themes. “The only possible revolution is the one that blossoms from within us. Change will come from individuals. Laws are meant to be bent and shaped to our vital needs. LAWS WILL FOLLOW!”
