For those of you who don’t know (as though we didn’t just Google it ourselves), an NFT is a non-fungible token, which is a unique digital item that can be used as a commodity. To put it simply (and clumsily), if you created a meme, that meme can be infinitely reproduced, but if it’s turned into an NFT it can be traced to a unique digital file. NFTs are currently a topic of much discussion, in many ways becoming the art trade for a new generation. Now, Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan is getting in on the act, having revealed an animated NFT that he’s auctioning off this Friday.

The NFT in question is a creepy animated video of Clown floating in a pool of blood (maybe?) as it boils around him (sorta?). More importantly, it contains original audio, which takes the form of an electronic hum that sort of sounds like the Devil trying to talk to you after his throat cancer surgery. It definitely sounds like a Slipknot interlude track, which is what really gives this piece its worth.

“This clip has been minted as an exclusive #NFT and will be retired from any future use,” wrote Clown in the caption of the post. “The 1/1 piece features original audio and is currently up for auction through April 2nd here: https://zora.co/clown
