While many people like to claim that metal died in the ’90s, one driving force that kept it alive was Beavis and Butt-Head. MTV’s snickering headbanger duo were always excited to showcase metal music and culture, whether they were raving and headbanging about White Zombie’s “Thunder Kiss ’65” or mocking Phil Anselmo during Pantera’s “This Love” video (“DAMMIT, PANTERA, THIS BEER IS WARM!”). Now, 25 years after the pair made their big-screen debut with 1996’s Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, it’s been announced that Beavis and Butt-Head will be starring in another movie.
Instead of theaters, the movie will be released via Paramount+, Paramount’s new streaming service that apparently wants to get in on that Disney+ and Peacock money. That Beavis and Butt-Head would be a part of the service was already hinted on Super Bowl Sunday, when the duo appeared in ads for Paramount+ alongside Patrick Stewart, Samara from The Ring, and one of the puppets from Crank Yankers.
The scrawny, nacho-gobbling couple made the announcement themselves via a Zoom meeting with each other…from the same couch.
“So, like, eeeh…we’re making a movie,” declares Butt-Head after slapping Beavis for being a dumbass.
“It’s gonna be on Paramount+,” adds Beavis.
“…you said ‘mount,'” concludes Butt-Head. Beavis closes the footage with a spirited, “BOING-YOING-YOING-YOING-YOING.”

No release date for the new movie has been announced, but needless to say, we’re fucking stoked.
The new Beavis and Butt-Head movie joins a pretty busy viewing schedule for homebound metalheads this year. Between this, the new R-rated Mortal Kombat movie, the upcoming live-action Twisted Metal series, and Tim Burton’s new coming-of-age show about teenage Wednesday Addams, fans of all things dark, violent, weird, and sleazy will be set to, well, basically live like Beavis and Butthead into 2022. Guess we’ll see sunlight sometime later in the decade.
