Motörhead Announce Small-Batch Bourbon Collaboration With Hillrock

Published on:

These days, bands can’t just sell shirts, patches, and the occasional weed grinder — the beverage game is where it’s at. Lamb of God have their own coffee, as do Kreator and Corey Taylor (being British goths, Cradle of Filth went with tea). But a hot cup of morning pick-me-up isn’t enough for Motörhead — they need hard drink, and lots of it. That’s why it’s heartwarming and liver-damning to learn that the House of Lemmy has teamed up with renowned distillers Hillrock to produce a small-batch bourbon in honor of the 40th anniversary of Ace of Spades.

For Ace of Spades‘ 40th birthday, Motörhead and Hillrock will release a limited batch of cask-strength bourbon. Each of the 1,100 bottles is hand-numbered and comes in this bespoke commemorative box, which is the kind of thing that purchasers should insist on their ashes being stored in after they die. “A lush and velvety expression of Hillrock’s Solera Aged Bourbon amplified by this undiluted proof,” says the press release for this collaboration. “Specially selected for its delicate balance of proof and flavor, as well as its incredibly long finish. A truly decanter worthy bottling. Cask #1 was bottled at 115.6ᵒ and limited to 599 bottles, ABV of 57.8%. Cask #2 was bottled at 115.3ᵒ and limited to 623 bottles, ABV 57.65%.”

While it’s a well-known fact that Lemmy was a vocal proponent of Jack Daniels, it’s also safe to say that he would’ve enjoyed the shit out of this bourbon as well (and anything else you kept in the house). You can pick up your bottle of Motörhead and Hillrock’s bourbon at Mash & Grape for $175, with the opportunity to procure bottles from both Cask #1 and #2 — but only for a limited time, so act fast.
