Last year, Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton released his debut solo album Anesthetic, which showed the world just how versatile a player he is beyond metal. Mark then doubled down with this year’s Ether, an acoustic EP of covers and originals featuring an exceptional line-up of guest vocalists. Now, Morton has posted a live acoustic video of him and Halestorm‘s Lzzy Hale covering Black Crowes’ “She Talks to Angels,” which you can watch below.
As you’ll see in the video, both Mark and Lzzy are in fine form in this video — Morton obviously knows his way around this sort of countrified rock song, while Hale gives the song her bluesy all. More so, the cover is a solid example of how Zoom and YouTube recordings can actually feel like a live experience, even if we’re all separated and staring at our screens.

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of interviewing Lzzy about the 10th anniversary of Halestorm’s Live In Phill, about which she and guitarist Joe Hottinger had a whirlwind of memories.
“10 years ago was the beginning of a new lifetime,” said Halestorm in a statement about the album. “It was a time of discovering who we were, not just to ourselves…but who we were to the world. When I listen to this live album, I still remember the feeling of beautiful panic before hitting the stage at the TLA, a place where I had experienced the live shows of many of my idols as a young Pennsylvania girl. Most of these songs were relatively new and some we were performing live for the first time. I can hear the growling hunger of the four of us. We were ravenous and hell bent on proving ourselves on a new level. This show was a step forward toward a future unknown…the rest is history.”
