Korn have just released a new video in time for Halloween that’s suitably apocalyptic. For the new clip for “Finally Free,” the latest single from their 2019 album The Nothing, the band has teamed up with the online game World of Tanks Blitz. And it just so happens that the video coincides with the launch of the game’s new Halloween mode, which is titled Burning Games.
The clip itself has a tense, desolate atmosphere with a bit of a Mad Max vibe to it. Plot-wise, it follows the protagonist Captain, who fights his way upstream, through teeming crowds of people and debris in a vast desert landscape to make his way to see Korn performing on a high platform. Certainly we’ve all considered the lengths we’d go to in order to see live music again, but it’s a little too real, Korn!
“I really like World of Tanks Blitz. It’s true to the era, there are a lot of great tanks in there, and you don’t just jump in and start shooting,” vocalist Jonathan Davis said about the video and World of Tanks Blitz in a press release. “I think there is a connection between rock and video games because video games are intense and rock ’n’ roll music is intense. It seems like they have always gone hand in hand.”
The release of the video also coincides with the Convergence event, which takes place from today (October 16) through October 24, in which fans and players can compete with puzzles and challenges to win prizes from the band. Collect guitar picks to unlock new levels and challenges, get Korn-themed avatars and more. Find more details about the event here.
