Last we heard from Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor, he had just dropped “HWY 666,” the latest single from his upcoming solo album CMFT. Now, the singer and firebrand has revealed plans for an extra-large event surrounding the record’s release — a massive pay-per-view live show.
The performance will be titled Forum or Against ‘Em, due to the fact that it’ll take place at The Forum in Los Angeles. The event’s press release promises that the show will include the entire new solo record, cover tracks, select Stone Sour and Slipknot fan favorites, a pyro display, and even a set by rock go-go troupe the Cherry Bombs, whose ranks include Corey’s wife Alicia Dove.
“I’ve been saying since the beginning I’d find a way to bring this music and this band to the people,” said Taylor in a statement. “And I’m honored that The Forum let us do just that. It’s CMFT in its entirety. It’s songs I’ve shared over the years. It’s a celebration, and I’m so stoked to party with all of you.”
“To do a rock show on this scale, with an icon like Corey Taylor – while putting some of the behind-the-scenes heroes of the concert industry back to work – is an exciting step into the future,” says Danny Wimmer, the man behind rock festival company Danny Wimmer Presents and one of Taylor’s partners on the event. “We believe that Pay-Per-View is here to stay and we couldn’t think of anyone better to help us launch our new digital platform than Corey Taylor. He’s a global star, and his music with Slipknot and Stone Sour, as well as our amazing relationship with 5B, has helped to fuel DWP’s growth over the past decade. We can’t wait to get this show started.”
Tickets for the performance are already on sale. For megafans, there’s also a package that includes tickets, a T-shirt, a hoodie, a poster, and access to view an exclusive acoustic set by Corey. Not only that, there are also an extremely limited number of bundles that include a one-on-one chat with Taylor, so get your questions ready (I want to ask him what Mick Thomson’s like. Don’t you wonder about Mick? Like, do you ever think that if you hung out with him, maybe you two would become instant pals and he’d give you one of his old masks? Anyway).
