Is there any rock star more revered, despised, and misunderstood than Ozzy Osbourne? For fifty years, the Prince of Darkness has changed how the world thought about music, and spawned a legion of sonic demons and onstage psychos who owe him everything. Now, A&E has revealed the first trailer for its new documentary Biography: The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne, and rather than make you headbang or scream out loud, it’ll give you goosebumps.

Featuring appearances by Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Post Malone, Rick Rubin, and of course his wife and children, the trailer for The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne catalogs to growth of rock’s greatest madman from terrified, self-conscious class clown to stage-dominating cult of personality to reality TV star. But rather than look at it as a career of fame and fortune, the trailer seems to cast it as a reflection of Ozzy’s personality, an examination of how this one scared kid from industrial Britain escaped the factories — and often his own consciousness — by the skin of his teeth.

“The working-class thing is key,” says Zombie in the trailer. “Because you grew up with nothing, and you do everything you can, every day, so you don’t go back to nothing. It’s all about escaping your reality to something better. It’s all about escaping your reality to something better.”

“I think there’s a wild man in everybody,” says Ozzy in a vintage interview replayed in the trailer. “I’m a split personality. Ozzy Osbourne and John Osbourne are two different people. John Osbourne is talking to you now, but if you wanted Ozzy Osbourne, it, it takes over.”
