The band then linked to a GoFundMe asking fans to donate to Petrov’s medical expenses. “I’ve been hit with uncureable cancer (gallvägscancer in Swedish),” says Petrov in the description on the crowdfunding pages, “and have been battling it for some time now. It can’t be removed but the doctors are trying to control it with chemo therapy. Life takes its weird turns…

“To help a fellow metalhead in need in these difficult times, feel free to donate here!”

The crowdfunding campaign’s goal is 500,000 Swedish Krona, which is approximately $58,000 USD. Fortunately, it looks as though L-G is already halfway there.

Petrov is best known for his longtime stint as frontman of Swedish death metal legends Entombed, having done vocals on such popular albums as 1990’s Left Hand Path, 1993’s Wolverine Bluesand 2001’s Morning Star. In 2013, Petrov and all other members of the band besides guitarist Alex Hellid formed Entombed A.D., and soon after he became lead vocalist for death metallers Firespawn.

Everyone at The Pit wishes LG the best and hopes for his speedy recovery.
