Lamb of God have only played one show so far in 2020: a free concert at the House of Vans in Chicago joined by industrial hardcore outfit and hometown favorites Harm’s Way. The Virginian metal stalwarts also celebrated the release of their nonalcoholic collaborative beer Ghost Walker and played a then-new song,”Checkmate,” for the first time live. On Friday (June 19th), Lamb of God just dropped their highly anticipated eighth album — which is self-titled and their first with new drummer Art Cruz, who replaced founding member Chris Adler as the group’s full-time timekeeper last year — and while they will likely not be able to play a live show in support of the LP for fans in-person this year, they have filmed an awesome three-song quarantine session. The songs played? “Checkmate,” Ashes of the Wake standout “Laid to Rest” and, making its live debut, “New Colossal Hate.” Watch the mini-set, which LOG premiered today (June 22nd), below and just try not to start a full-on mosh pit at home — we dare you.

“The day has finally arrived!” Lamb of God guitarist and major songwriter Mark Morton enthused of the group’s new LP on Friday. “We are absolutely thrilled to be releasing our new, self-titled album today. We’re all so proud of this collection of songs and feel like they rival some of our best work. As a band, we have a reawakened energy and a renewed creative spark that is evident in these songs and pulses through the entire album. Everyone involved in this project is beyond anxious for the world to hear it. We hope you enjoy it and we thank you for your support!” See the track listing below.
