Like every other touring band, Texan thrash rabble-rousers Power Trip have been sidelined from the road by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting shutdown of the live music circuit. It’s a particularly harsh reality for a group that have consistently proven themselves to be one of the best live acts in heavy music. While they eagerly look forward to return to the stage again sometime in the future, the group has released a new live album, simply titled Live in Seattle 05.28.2018, as it was recorded on said date in said city while Power Trip were on their headlining run with Sheer Mag, Red Death and Fury.

The 11-song record also marks the band’s first full-length release since 2017’s acclaimed Nightmare Logic LP. In the years since, Power Trip have released two new singles, 2018’s Adult Swim Singles Collection original “Hornet’s Nest” and 2019’s “When Things Go Wrong,” a cover of NYHC stalwarts Outburst. Frontman Riley Gale also notably guested on Body Count’s latest album, Carnivore, singing on the standout cut “Point the Finger.”

Live in Seattle 05.28.2018 is available now via Bandcamp. The description of the album there reads as follows:

Live in Seattle 05.28.2018 was recorded at Neumos while Power Trip was on their extensive tour with Sheer Mag, Red Death, and Fury. It has since been mixed and mastered by the band’s front of house engineer, Zachary Rippy of Sound Signal Audio.

“The band offers this release as a way of saying thank you to all supporters, friends, and allies over the years. All proceeds from the sale of this album on Bandcamp go toward offsetting the financial impact of the numerous Power Trip tours and live appearances cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
