Metallica‘s continuing “Metallica Mondays” concert series — which has seen the band unearthing pro-shot footage of shows from across their career and broadcasting it on the group’s YouTube channel and Facebook page — has been a great way for homebound fans to pass two-plus hours the social-distancing restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic. This week, the thrash OGs flashed back to November 18th, 2016, when they played an intimate show at London’s House of Vans as part of the hype campaign for that year’s Hardwired… to Self-Destruct. Watch the performance and check out the set list below.
“While we’re all doing our part and staying home, we find ourselves missing live music,” Metallica said in a joint statement when announcing the “Metallica Mondays” series, “so how about we dive back into a few of our favorite shows at a socially responsible distance?”
So far the series has included seven shows: at Slane Castle in Ireland in 2019; Paris’ AccorHotels Arena in 2017; Forum København in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2009; San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival in the summer of 2017; Munich, Germany, in 2015; L.C. Walker Arena in Muskegon, Michigan, in 1991; and, of course, the latest concert.
In addition to “Metallica Mondays,” the iconic quartet have also responded to the coronavirus crisis via their nonprofit organization, All Within My Hands, donating “four grants totaling $350,000 to organizations dedicated to assisting those hit hard by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.”
