“Theatricore” stalwarts Ice Nine Kills are total horror fanatics, especially vocalist and bandleaders Spencer Charnas. Each of the songs on the group’s latest album, The Silver Scream, pays tribute to a different one of the singer’s favorite fright flicks, from A Nightmare on Elm Street (“The American Nightmare”) to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (“Savages”) to Friday the 13th (“Thank God It’s Friday”). As if that wasn’t enough, in October, the band issued a new “Final Cut” edition of the LP, featuring four acoustic renditions of Silver Scream songs, plus two all-new tracks, one of which, “Your Number’s Up,” hails Wes Craven’s 1996 classic, Scream.

Just in time for both Mother’s Day (yesterday, May 10th) and the 40th anniversary of Friday the 13th (on Saturday, May 9th), Ice Nine Kills added another horror homage to their catalog: a clever acoustic parody of Fountains of Wayne’s smash hit “Stacey’s Mom,” reworked as “Jason’s Mom.” The band premiered the song during the massive #FearlessAtHome livestream event that took place on the 9th and included exclusive appearances by August Burns Red, Wage War, Starset, the Pretty Reckless’ Taylor Momsen and more.

Charnas said of the parody song, “Today marks the 40th anniversary of Friday the 13th and with tomorrow being Mother’s Day, we thought this acoustic cover would be the perfect way to celebrate. We want to dedicate this to the memory of the inspirational songwriter Adam Schlesinger, who co-wrote this amazing and enduring pop song for Fountains Of Wayne. We hope all the moms out there have a truly killer Mother’s Day.” Watch below.
