Metallica are keeping very busy even as the coronavirus crisis keeps them from playing live shows. Earlier this month, the band announced that they had donated “four grants totaling $350,000 to organizations dedicated to assisting those hit hard by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic,” and this weekend, they lent their song “Now That We’re Dead” to pro wrestler The Undertaker, who used it as both his entrance and exit theme at WrestleMania 36. In addition, the thrash pioneers are still adding to their continuing “Metallica Mondays” concert series, which has been a great way for homebound fans to keep entertained. “While we’re all doing our part and staying home, we find ourselves missing live music,” the band said in a joint statement, “so how about we dive back into a few of our favorite shows at a socially responsible distance?”

The first gig the group livestreamed was their 2019 performance at Slane Castle in Ireland. The second — which premiered March 30th — was the thrash OGs’ two-and-a-half-hour set at Paris’ AccorHotels Arena on September 8th 2017. The third and latest, premiered last night, is Metallica’s performance at at Forum København in Copenhagen, Denmark, on July 22nd, 2009, during their World Magnetic Tour. As for Metallica’s upcoming live plans, the quartet recently confirmed that their South American tour with Greta Van Fleet, originally set for this month, has been bumped to December. Meanwhile, in North America, their scheduled headlining appearances at the Epicenter, Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple festivals are all off due to the cancellation of the three spring events. In better news, the metal icons have been re-added to Kentucky’s Louder Than Life fest, which has now been extended for another day — September 17th — on which Metallica will serve as the headliners.
