Metallica are doing what they can to keep homebound fans entertained and out of trouble during the COVID-19 pandemic. Look no further than the thrash icons’ weekly “Metallica Mondays” concert series, which sees the band unearthing epic, professionally filmed footage of full shows and broadcasting them on the group’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. “While we’re all doing our part and staying home, we find ourselves missing live music,” Metallica said in a joint statement announcing the project, “so how about we dive back into a few of our favorite shows at a socially responsible distance?”

The first concert in the series was the band’s 2019 show at Slane Castle in Ireland. This was followed by a two-and-a-half-hour set at Paris’ AccorHotels Arena on September 8th 2017. The third, premiered last week, was Metallica’s performance at at Forum København in Copenhagen, Denmark, on July 22nd, 2009, during their World Magnetic Tour. Now comes the fourth and latest entry: the metal pioneers’ whiplashing set at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival in the summer of 2017, which saw them tearing through 17 career-spanning songs. Watch the pro-shot video and check out the full set list below.

As for ‘Tallica’s upcoming live plans, the four-piece’s South American tour with Greta Van Fleet, originally lined up for April, has been pushed to December, and in North America, their scheduled headlining appearances at the Epicenter, Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple festivals were all cancelled, as were the three spring events. In positive news, the band have been re-added to Kentucky’s Louder Than Life fest, which has now been extended for another day — September 17th — on which Metallica will serve as the headliners. The group originally pulled out of that event due to frontman James Hetfield’s rehab obligations.

In addition to “Metallica Mondays,” the band has also responded to the coronavirus crisis through their nonprofit organization, All Within My Hands, by donating “four grants totaling $350,000 to organizations dedicated to assisting those hit hard by the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.”
