Trivium have dropped yet another single from their upcoming ninth full-length, What the Dead Men Say. This anthemic, hard rock-leaning song, and its accompanying music video is below for you to check out.
As frontman Matt Heafy sings in its hooky chorus: “As it bleeds into me/Let it sink in for you/Tell them the story/Tell them the truth” — it’s sure to be that earworm stuck in your head for days.
The paired music video is a retro, old-school arcade game that its user chooses the character of Maya, the woman from the first single/music video “Catastrophist,” who was trapped (and chased) in a myriad of obstacles of torture. Here, it’s replayed over and over — with apparent failure — greeting you with eerie, crowned woman from the the second single/music video, “What the Dead Men Say.”
Aside from being self-referential, the Florida-based metal veterans — rounded out by guitarist Corey Beaulieu, bassist Paolo Gregoletto and drummer Alex Bent — are releasing their Josh Wilbur-produced LP What the Dead Men Say this Friday, April 24th, via Roadrunner Records. It’s available for pre-order here.
Nor has COVID-19 hasn’t stopped the group from planning various, interesting release week events. In addition to the previously-announced April 27th virtual in-store, where fans can pre-order a CD copy and have it personalized by the band, on actual release day, Heafy will do a full album playthrough on his massively popular Twitch channel at 3pm ET.
Then on Wednesday, April 29th at 3pm ET, Trivium and Wilbur will do a Q&A session that will broadcast on the band’s Facebook and YouTube. And lastly, on Thursday, April 30th at 3pm ET, Trivium’s headline show at the Brixton Academy in the U.K. from 2018 will broadcast on the band’s YouTube channel. The band will be chatting with fans in the comments.
