Like pretty much every other band in the world, Metallica have scrambling to switch up their plans in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. They recently confirmed that their South American tour with Greta Van Fleet, which was set for April, has been bumped to December. Meanwhile, in North America, their scheduled headlining appearances at the Epicenter, Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple festivals are all off due to the cancellation of the three spring events. In better news, the thrash OGs have been re-added to Kentucky’s Louder Than Life fest, which has now been extended for another day — September 17th — on which Metallica will serve as the headliners. (The band originally cancelled due to frontman James Hetfield’s conflicting obligations due to his ongoing rehab.) In more positive news, the group has announced a new “Metallica Mondays” full-concert streaming series to help keep homebound fans entertained during the social-distancing protocol of the current pandemic.
“Need to take a break from Netflix before you binge-watch the entire library?” the band said in a joint statement. “Introducing our brand new concert series: #MetallicaMondays, debuting tonight on our YouTube channel and on Facebook!”
