Joel Grind has been flying the old-school thrash flag high for the last 20 years with his mostly one-man project Toxic Holocaust. Last year, he released his sixth full-length under that name, the tellingly titled Primal Future: 2019, on which he played every single instrument including drums. Today, February 27th, he’s offered a post-apocalyptic new music video for album standout “New World Beyond,” “a pit-ready ripper about “a dystopian future where resources are scarce and daily life is a struggle for survival,” according to Grind. Fittingly then the cut’s new clip is gritty and lo-fi, juxtaposing retro-style computer graphics with ferocious performance footage and scenes of the band’s mastermind out in nature. “New World Beyond” fits into Primal Future’s greater theme — of “a dystopian technological takeover.” The album was released by eOne; you can pick up a copy here.
If “New World Beyond” hits your sweet spot, you can catch Toxic Holocaust playing their particular brand of dystopian thrash live onstage on their current tour opening for Soulfly alongside X-Method, Madzilla, Skinflint and Systemhouse 33. The tour’s remaining dates are listed below.
