On November 30th, Slayer kicked off a two-night run at Los Angeles venue The Forum to wrap up the long and winding worldwide road they’ve traveled since setting off on their farewell tour back in May 2018. The extensive run saw the thrash OGs through more than 30 countries and 40 states as they paired with different contemporary and legacy groups throughout to give fans one last good time at each stop on every one of the tour’s 140 dates.
Kicking off the show was Slayer’s most recent group of touring friends: funk-metal comrades Primus, Ministry and Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals (the latter performing only Pantera classics), who joined the thrash legends for the last Final Campaign run that kicked off on November 2nd in Asheville, North Carolina.
With their final lineup — founding members Tom Araya and Kerry King, along with guitarist Gary Holt and drummer Paul Bostaph — primed and well-practiced for the big event, Slayer ripped through 20 songs from throughout their almost 40-year career as fans and friends like Kirk Hammett, Jason Momoa, Post Malone, Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, King Diamond, Butcher Babies Carla Harvey, and thousands more looked on. Ending on a high note with the triple threat combo of “Raining Blood,” “Mandatory Suicide,” and lastly “Angel Of Death,” Slayer went out on the most brutal note possible and left an indelible legacy on metal forever. See below to find out what other songs made the last of the last cuts.
