A new study has revealed that Iowa’s masked madmen Slipknot are the number one artist people listen to when they’re pissed off.

The study, conducted by U.K. ticketing service TickX, utilized Spotify’s Playlist Miner to find the most common songs in users’ playlists that include the keywords “happy,” “sad,” “sexy,” “love,” “chill” and “angry.”

The researchers also identified the top songs that people stream when they’re raging. While Slipknot’s “Duality,” “Before I Forget,” “Wait and Bleed” and “Psychosocial” all made the list, the number one slot was filled by Disturbed’s 2000 nu-metal hit “Down With the Sickness.”

TickX then used the Organize Your Music tool to quantify the “anatomy” of what makes up an angry song. They cataloged the BPM, valence, danceability, energy, duration and year for each track and then averaged the values.

They found the typical “angry” song looks a bit like this:

  • BPM at 130
  • Valence (positivity) at 49/100
  • Danceability at 54/100
  • Energy at 86/100
  • Duration of 226 seconds (3 minutes and 47 seconds)
  • Average year of release is 2007
