Hatebreed frontman Jamey Jasta never sleeps. The dude is always up to something badass, and his latest project is the second album from his solo project Jasta. Titled Lost Chapters Vol. 2 and due out December 13th, the upcoming LP features guest appearances from a slew of heavy hitting including Kirk Windstein (Crowbar), Howard Jones (Light the Torch), Frankie Palmeri (Emmure), Billy Graziadei (Biohazard) and Zoli Teglas (Ignite). The two biggest names, however, might be Killswitch Engage‘s Jesse Leach and Trivium‘s Matt Heavy, who appear on the cuts “Strength to Draw the Line” and “When the Contagion Is You,” respectively. Jasta has just unleashed both those songs and — no surprise — they crush. Stream them below via Spotify. If you like what you hear, you can pre-order Lost Chapters Vol. 2here now.
“Matt absolutely crushed this track,” Jasta commented on “Strength to Draw the Line” in an Instagram post today, November 6th. “I knew his voice would sound amazing on this when I wrote the melody!!”
He went a little deeper on “Strength to Draw the Line” in a post yesterday. “[Leach] absolutely nailed this track and helped inspire the lyrics,” Jasta wrote. “Imagine this as a sequel or a prequel to other tracks we’ve both written. It’s about & for the wild ones, the ‘crazies’ so to speak. The creative wave makers and game changers who have all been dismissed along the way but vindicated in the end. At some point they had to ‘draw the line’ to put a limit on what they will do or what they will allow happen if they view it is wrong or in the way of their process or limiting what they say or what they can create.”
He added, “The line is different for everyone and for some it is extremely hard to draw. Think about all the awesome art, film, photographs, sculptures, albums, radio shows, books, comedy specials, architecture, tattoos or whatever you deem is art and the person or people behind it at some point had to have the ‘Strength to Draw the Line.'”
