At its heart, music is all about emotion. Dawn of Disease know this. Founded in 2003, the Osnabrück, Germany–cased band are set to drop their fifth studio album, Procession of Ghosts, on November 1st via Napalm Records (you can pre-order it here), and it’s full massive, bulldozing melodic death metal spiked with blackened atmospherics, majestic feeling and melancholic undertones. Ahead of the big release, we caught up with guitarist Lukas K. to find out what music he listens to for every mood. Read on to find out the songs that the musician turns to when shaking off the morning grogginess, looking for a pick-me-up and more.

When I’m pissed off:
Cannibal Corpse – “Blood Drenched Execution”

This song has enough energy to get me back to a normal level. [Laughs]

When I’m feeling depressed
Andrew W. K. – “Party Hard”

Usually I don’t feel depressed, but if it comes to such a situation, this song can definitely bring me back into a good mood.

When I get up in the morning
Lock Up – “Brethren of the Pentagram”

Often there’s not much time in the morning so it’s better to be quick. This song helps a lot.

When I go to bed:
Blind Guardian – “Mister Sandman”

This is really a good song to go to bed to. And when it’s over, I can fall asleep quite well. [Laughs]

When I’m hungover:
Black Label Society – “Crazy or High”

BLS, and especially that album Hangover Music Vol. VI, is the best to listen to when having a hangover. Listening to it during a rich breakfast will make you feel better within a short time.

When I’m getting it on:
Turbonegro – “Get It On”

What song could be better for getting it on?

Song I most want to be remembered for:
Dawn of Disease – “Autumn Days”

This song is from our new album Procession of Ghosts, and I really put a lot of emotion and energy in it. So at the moment, I would say that this is a fitting song for remembering me.

Song I wish I wrote
Metallica – “Creeping Death”

“Creeping Death” is one of the best metal songs I ever heard. But I was born a bit too late to write it myself. [Laughs]

Songs I want played at my funeral
Pantera – “Cemetery Gates”

I guess this is a good song for my funeral. Not too happy, but also not too sad. Of course, there will be more songs than this at my funeral. At least I hope so.
