The O’Keefe Music Foundation is an Ohio-based nonprofit that provides children and teens with the instruments, professional recording equipment and engineers to live out their rock-star dreams. Over the last few years, they’ve gone viral with videos showcasing their young participants covering classic metal songs, such as Slayer’s “Raining Blood,” Slipknot’s “The Devil in I” and Pantera’s “I’m Broken.” Now a band of O’Keefe kids has revisited that last group — the mighty Cowboys From Hell — for a fittingly hellacious take on the Texas firebrand’s “5 Minutes Alone.” The musicians featured range from the ages of 13 to 17, and they crush it.
If you’d rather see Pantera’s actual singer, Philip Anselmo, performing the group’s songs, you can catch him doing just that with his solo band, the Illegals, on the final leg of Slayer’s farewell world tour, which kicks off imminently. Anselmo’s sets on that historic trek have been dubbed “A Vulgar Display of Pantera” — see the itinerary below.
