WTF: Justin Bieber Posts Lyrics to Tool Song “The Pot,” Asks Fans to Identify

Published on:

There’s been a lot of evidence over the years that Justin Bieber is a legit metal fan beyond sporting the occasional trendy Metallica or Iron Maiden T-shirt like every other pop and hip-hop star. He’s lipsync’d Ozzy songs, hung out with Marilyn Manson and Anthrax’s Frank Bello, released his own heavy-metal-inspired merch line with logo designed by noted metal artist Mark Riddick, and that’s just the tip of the proverbial iceberb. Now — or more specifically, yesterday, July 11th — he’s shared the lyrics to the Tool song “The Pot” via his Instagram story, asking his followers if they identify them. “If you know what the song is to the lyrics I posted write them down on my last post don’t look it up please I’m curious if any of you know it,” he requested of fans. The 10,000 Days cut was, according to Adam Jones, a sardonic critique of frivolous drug use.

For their part, Tool have not posted any Bieber lyrics via their social accounts — though we wouldn’t put it past the notorious pranksters. To the contrary, the prog-metal titans are busy gearing up for the release of their beyond-highly anticipated follow-up to 10,000 Days, which is due August 30th and will be the band’s first record in 13 years. The group has yet to reveal the title of the LP or its artwork or track listing, but they have been playing two new songs like, “Descending” and “Invincible,” both of which have been met with the sort of rabid response you’d expect from starved Tool fans.
