Hear Dragonforce’s Shredtastic New Power-Metal Epic “Highway to Oblivion”

Power-metal shred-masters Dragonforce have announced their eighth full-length, the aptly titled Extreme Power Metal, due on September 27th. Produced in L.A., by Damien Rainaud at Mix Unlimited, the album was recorded, in part, on guitarist Herman Li’s livestream channel on Twitch with participation from the fans. The band has also unleashed the LP’s high-octane lead single, “Highway to Oblivion,” the video for which can be viewed below. In addition to the clip, “Highway to Oblivion” will appear today, July 30th, as a playable level in Audica, a VR “rhythm shooter” from Harmonix, the makers of Rock Band. A standard edit of the track will be available, as well as the full-length version, the latter of which will be the most difficult song on the game’s soundtrack to date.

“This album again combines the best of Dragonforce in an even bigger, more epic way than we have ever done before,” Li enthused of Extreme Power Metal. “We are so excited for fans to hear it.” The keyboards of the record were performed by Coen Janssen (Epica), who played in place of Vadim Pruzhanov, who split with the band last year. Guitarist Sam Totman commented on his contribution: “We worked really closely with Coen on this new album. We are so happy with what he has brought into this new album. Every fan will be so happy to hear his majestic playing.” See the full track listing below.
