The polarizing reunited “classic” lineup of Static-X played their first live show last night (June 18th) since re-forming in 2018. The group features original band members bassist Tony Campos, guitarist Koichi Fukuda and drummer Ken Jay along with a mystery frontman going by the name Xer0 performing in place of the late Wayne Static. Heavily rumored to be Edsel Dope of the nu-metal band Dope, Xero controversially appears wearing a zombie-fied mask of Static, complete with his signature spiked-up hair and a stitched-together face. The group’s first show went down at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona, and kicked off the band’s 20th anniversary tour for their platinum-selling debut LP Wisconsin Death Trip.
In addition to a very full slate of tour dates (see below), the current incarnation of Static-X has also a new album, titled Project Regeneration, in the works; it is set to feature previously unreleased recordings from Wayne Static, as well as guest vocals by Ministry‘s Al Jourgensen.
