Showing off that his acting and drumming chops are nearly on par, Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain stars in a hilarious new skit where he walks into his warm-up room on tour only to find the band’s mascot Eddie wailing away behind the kit and steadfastly refusing to give up the throne.
“Every night. Every freaking night, I’m trying to get in,” the famed percussionist exclaims in his thick English accent to the camera. “I’ve gotta be on stage in, like, 10 minutes, I’ve gotta get changed. Before that, I’ve gotta have a little practice, a little warm-up. Every night he’s in there. Every bloody night!”
Crossing his arms in a feigned huff, McBrain swings open the door to his warm-up room and we see the soldier-uniformed mummy-man, glowing eyes and all, propped up behind the drum set in strident refusal to make way for the Maiden skinsman. The pajama-clad musician wanders down the hall crying out for an opening band’s kit, or even just a drum pad. Just as he turns the corner to wander off into the dressing room, McBrain shakes his fist at the camera and shouts, “And another thing!” just in time for the Legacy of the Beast tour logo to light up the screen. The tour hits North America starting Sunday, July 18th, in Florida. A full list of dates and ticket links can be found below.
