Viking-metal stalwarts Amon Amarth recently released their crushing and epic new album Berserker, which they’ve promoted in part via an equally crushing and epic trilogy of conceptually linked music videos. The series kicked off with the video for “Raven’s Flight,” continued with “Crack the Sky” and concluded with “Mjölner, Hammer of Thor,” tracing a long and bloody battle — full of ancient weaponry, supernatural forces and badass martial arts — between good and very, very evil. The cast of the music-video trilogy included MMA fighter Josh Barnett, who appeared as ‘The Berserker,” and the WWE’s Erick Rowan, starring as “Thor,” and Viktor, as “Demon Henchman.” Tess Kielhammer played the “Demon Boss” while Shanie Rusth played the “Shield Maiden.”
Now, Amon Amarth have offered fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the videos, including a deep dive into the costumes, stunts and filming. The band is currently on tour in Europe, with plans to swing through many of the summer’s major festival including Download, Knotfest France, Graspop and Copenhell. Then in the fall, Johan Hegg and cohorts will hit the road in North America to deliver a four-pack of Swedish metal power, when they tour with Arch Enemy, At the Gates and Grand Magus — see dates for that trek below.
