Tool are prepping for their first show in a bit this Sunday, May 5th, in Jacksonville, Florida. And it looks like the prog-metal titans — singer Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, bassist Justin Chancellor and drummer Danny Carey — might just be planning to unveil some new music. Today (May 1st) Jones posted a video of himself playing what appears to be a new riff on a cool American flag-emblazoned Fernandes Nomad travel guitar, along with the caption: *Getting ready for Sunday 🤘🏽🔥💣

Jones also included an array of tantalizing hashtags: #TOOL #TOOLlive #Nomad #Bitesize #lovethenonhaters #WelcomeToRockvilleFestival #Rockville #RockvilleFestival2019 #RockvilleFestival #Jacksonville #Florida #America #MakingDreamsComeTrue #TheFastingIsOver #BG

The riff itself bears some resemblance to a lick that falls midway through the instrumental “Descending” that the band began playing live in 2015, leading some fans to speculate that what Jones is playing could be an excerpt to a finalized version of that tune. Of course, we’ll just have to wait and see — what’s a few more days after 13 years? That is, of course, if Tool do in fact unveil said hypothetical new song in Florida. If not, we’ll all just continue waiting with bated breath for the group to grace us with full-fledged new material, not to mention a real release date for that beyond highly anticipated fifth album.
