Tribulation, one of the most exciting and promising new bands of today, have released a live performance video of their track “Nightbound” taken from last year’s critically acclaimed record Down Below. Filmed at Oberhausen, Germany in 2018, the clip shows the Swedish group in all their eerie glory, awash in neon green light as they slither and slink around the stage like the blackened glam ghouls they are. Fog machines produce a light swirling of smoke that shrouds the band in an ominous mist as the flashing lights provide a distinct haunted house effect.
Tribulation don’t skimp on wardrobe either, each donning gothic, flowy outfits that evoke the likes of Jimmy Page’s dragon suit or Alice Cooper’s early stage show. They owe a lot to the shock rockers and big production values of the past, a debt they honor each night with their crypt-keeper aesthetic and danceable, infectious tunes.
Adding to the overall ghostly vibes are the particular video effects used to enhance the footage. Vintage psychedelic filters give off a distinctly late 1960s/early 1970s vibe that works perfectly with the timeless horror of Tribulation’s artistry. The group is currently on tour in Europe before hitting the festival circuit this summer, so check them out when they’re in your town and prepare to shake your spooky ass.
